The CNC machining centers category is made up of CNC Pod and Rail point to point machines. The primary function of these machines is vertical and horizontal drilling on pre-sized components. Most of these machines also perform routing, however the main function is generally the drilling of panel components. Parts are positioned on movable pods and held in place during machining by either vacuum, through the pods, or mechanical clamping for smaller parts. The machines commonly have 2 or more work zones to accommodate pendulum or multi zone processing. Pod and Rail machines are commonly used by larger production panel processing shops where higher throughput than can be achieved on a nesting type machine is required.
